Dr Thomas Hill is a Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician. He held the position of Chief Medical Officer for the WACA from 2017-2024 and is now bringing his experience working with professional athletes back to a community level.

Biography

Dr Hill graduated from University of Tasmania in 2010 and migrated across the country to commence his Medical Internship at Fremantle Hospital in 2011. He spent his early years gaining experience through various specialties such as Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Plastic Surgery and Orthopaedics. He developed a passion for Sport and Exercise Medicine while working as the head doctor for East Fremantle Football Club in 2013 and has worked across various sporting codes since then. He obtained his Fellowship with the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians in 2020 where he won the college medal for the top ranked candidate across Australia and New Zealand. He previously also held the role of ACSEP State Training Co-Ordinator in Western Australia to support the next generation of Sports Physicians.

He was the Chief Medical Officer for the WACA from 2017-2024 and played a supportive role across both male and female squads. This tenure included seeing the women’s team lift both WNCL and WBBL trophies as well as the infamous ‘triple double’ of the men’s One Day Cup and Shield titles from 2021-2024. Outside of cricket he has also spent time working in WAFL, AFL, A-League, Netball, Basketball and was the Chief Medical Officer for the World U24 Ultimate Frisbee Championships! He has a keen interest in the non-operative management of Osteoarthritis, Tendinopathies and Stress/Overuse injuries. He is experienced with Ultrasound Guided injections across a range of pathologies and offers a variety of Steroid, Hyaluronic Acid Viscosupplementation (Durolane/Monovisc) and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) options for various joint and tendon issues.
