Dr Meyerkort is a Western Australian trained surgeon who has completed Fellowship subspecialty training in London, Sydney and Canberra. He has subspecialty interest in sports knee and ankle surgery, elite athletic management, robotic knee replacement and hip replacement.
A graduate of the University of Western Australia, Dr Meyerkort was awarded the Sir George Bedbrook Prize for the highest score in Orthopaedics in 2005. He subsequently completed his Orthopaedic specialist training in Perth, before commencing specialist practice as a locum in Bunbury. He then undertook subspecialty hip and knee fellowships in Canberra with Professor Paul Smith / Dr Al Burns, and Sydney with Dr Rob Molnar. Dr Meyerkort was awarded a foot & ankle Fellowship at the world renowned Fortius Clinic London with Professor James Calder (surgeon for the majority of Premier League Soccer, British Olympics and the English National Cricket, Rugby and Soccer teams).
Dr Meyerkort consults at Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine and operates at Hollywood, Bethesda and SJOG Subiaco hospitals. He has a public appointment through Royal Perth Hospital and is actively involved in training junior doctors. His research interest is in biological treatments for orthopaedic disease and pre-operative optimisation before joint replacement.
